    Hello,

I could use some help. My system has been overrun by some kind of ad-ware or something. Everytime i connect to the internet via IE i get 2 other windows open also. One for Free6 and another for TurobFind.com...somtimes i get Amazon aswell. I am running out of options and i have ran all possible programs that come to mind. Ie. Adaware, Spybot, Norton 2005, and other programs mentioned in the forums. Does anyone have any idea how i can get rid of the pesky pop ups?

    Thx in advance
    Dog

    Hi Dog,

It is always a good idea to start with the Cleanup Tutorial HERE:
READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan and Virus Removal

Please note the steps that you are able to complete and the ones that give you problems. Note that you need to be in Safe Mode with System Restore OFF (if you have it - you didn't give OS) and have the Viewing of Hidden Files ENABLED as per the instructions in the link. Make sure to do the Online Scans.

This will get rid of a lot of crap that would otherwise show up in a HijackThis log. Post back and let us know how you fared and we'll go from there ;) I'll check back when I get a chance.

    Best luck,
    PP

Wow! Thx PP for Replying so fast.
Before I joined the Forum, I have tryed the Read Me First. I was informative but it did not help me with the problem as it is still persistant.

Here is a possible file : ied_s7m.cab its new in my c: dir

I have made 2 Hijack This logs
    1. safe mode and 2 regular XP Mode

    Hi Dog,

I do not see anything particularly evil jumping out of your log.
However, your HJT is out of date, inline and unrequested.

Get a Fresh Download of HJT HERE: HijackThis 1.98.2

Next time, if asked for a log, please save your as a .txt file and attach it via the "Manage Attachments" tool in the Additional Options section when you post.

I suggest that you run through the Cleanup Tutorial again very carefully (making sure System Restore is Off, etc. . .) Something might have remained - but I didn't see it in a quick glance of your log.

    You could fix these:
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

Sorry this seems rushed, but I am heading out the door.
I will be away from the site for a while, but somebody will check back ;)

    Hey PP or anyone else,

I did the FAQ step by step, but it didnt fix the problem all the way. I ened up scanning my registry and found "Search Assistant" on there. I took a look at the removal instructions and i seemed to work. My pop ups are gone (for now). Hopefully i didnt miss any thing.

    Thx for your help
    Dog

Sounds like you are all fixed up. Do you have a problem or a question on something?
