Need some help saving pics ..

Ok new here not sure what Is going on with my computer but I have an HP laptop with windows 7 bought a yr an half ago from staples. I'm pretty Sure I had a virus or something it started getting super slow and then sometime wouldn't load windows it would take a few trys. So now I can't Even get it to open windows it opens in recovery mode or whatever. It has options to go reset to a date but won't work cause I can't pick a date. Won't let me save my pics etc cause it says I don't have enough room...I haven't tried the factory reset yet cause I need my pics an info / programs I've downloaded. I do photography...so is there Anything I can do to get into windows to move my stuff to an external hard drive? Or how to fix without a reset? ? I'm really needing my computer working asap

Computers start to act strange when there is not much hard drive space left.
Remove or have someone remove the hard drive and connect it by a USB adapter to another computer. Adapter similar to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002
First copy the pictures to the other computer or to an external hard drive. After you are positive they are all copied, then it will be safe to remove them from your laptop's hard drive. After you have more space on the hard drive with the pictures removed, put the hd back in the laptop and see if windows now boots up properly.
