    Hi there!!!

OK ,here is the problem. When I start my comp in the begining everything is OK,from boot to welcome screen about 20 second. But after this PROBLEM !
When Windows start apps and exe,at the begining it's OK ,BUT then there is a delay for about 1 minute,I don't know why?? , witch after Windows proceed to start other apps and exe. Fred told me to disable my anti virus program because maybe he is the reason for slow startup.I disable the program, but the problem was still here.I disable some services, advise by ELDER GEEK but the services was not the issue. Then I do something radical.I format my PC,and start from begining.Load XP from the start with boot disc, restart with no problemos. Then I instal XP SP2 ,restart, and ......PROBLEM.1 minute of doing nothing.Maybe there is a tweak for registry for this 1 minute to go away. Please help, cos I REALY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! I send a copy of HiJackThis about the comp I run.

Use bootvis to determine what's causing this delay.

Bootvis creates a binary file iirc of around 10mb+ so will not upload here as woudlne really be viewable by anyone, but which applications seen from the bootvis report to be the last few loading ones?

Disk Write Caching is not one to really mess with as it "can" cause data corruption, but as Bootvis can mis-report this as being off, double check here to see if it is

Right Click My Computer > Properties > click Hardware tab > Device Manager > click the + next to Disk Drives > Right Click on your Hard Drive and choose Properties > Click Disk Policies Tab and check if Disk Write Caching is enabled or not?

Again I cannot stress this enough.... the chances of data corruption can occur if Disk Write Caching is not enabled by default and you enable it.

You could disable all none essential startups using Msconfig and narrow down one of the run apps are being the cause

    O&O Clever Cache
    Analogue Clock
    WindowsCare

and see if boot is any quicker?

But on new installs as you have re-installed sometimes its worth leaving it a few weeks as prefetching works out and will adjust for the most used and loaded apps ( < basic quick summary ) > Fuller description of prefetch a little bit down the page http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/01/12/XPKernel/default.aspx could well explain the 60sec slowness? *just a thought*

As I mentioned Bootvis reports this falsely as being off, Bootvis has not been updated for years, and is not supported by MS anymore.

Forget about the 1 minute for a few weeks, I have suspicion prefetch is doing its job, noticed a small lag on mine on a new install for a while.

also as its a new re-install of the OS have you defragged?

Yes I defrag a new install.Q:I read in some forums that if I delete all PF files in prefech will increase comp startup???? True or False.

True, if you don't do it every day. If you do it too much, you will decrease performance.

While possible if you delete every 3mths or so the Prefetch folder if you install many applciations to test its possible you may gain a few seconds, but it will take a while for the PF data to re-organise again over a few days or so, but its not what people thing you will gain, some reading......
