need some info on this error plzz and help

hey guys i have a friend whos game keeps crashing on him ( i know this should be in the game forms but i think its a sofetware issue) everytime he tries to play a game or play some sound he gets this error

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1246 MHz with 767MB RAM
Video: SAPPHIRE RADEON 9600 ATLANTIS (6422)

hes system specs are
Win XP pro
asus mb a7n8x rev 2.0
amd 2800 +
767MB RAM
RADEON 9600 ATLANTIS
80 gig hd diamond macs
another thing in aida32 it said his fsb was 99mhz ddr?????

 

maybe some driver update will work?
on some forum i read it also could be some spyware causing the prob.. he ran ad aware and spybot, afterwards it all ran clean :d

 

no spyware at all ive showed him the adaware and spybot and hes got nothing there well he got the error after all that was done also his ati VC is updated but where could he find the drivers for his SC its onboard audio... ok i got his FSB thing fixed it was set wrong in his bios but now where do i find the drivers for his audio...

 

i'm checking www.asus.com as we speak

Taylor, your description does sound like it could be an audio driver issue, found the ASUS drivers for ya:

I'd look for an entry in Control Panel > Add/Remove to uninstall the current drivers 1st, then install these.

hmmm... big problem here now hes dled the drivers but there is nothing in the add/remove for them i asked him about it and he said XP loaded the drivers automaticly for him.......so should he just go throu device mang and uninstall it all from there or is there an easier way......

 

he should be able to uninstall them from the device manager like you said. then he can run the executable that he downloaded.

 

ok thats what i thought but just had to make sure...also ace i love ur sig with the cow and chicken deal....lol ok ill get him started on that till next time l8r

SCORE another problem fixed thanx to MG updated the sound drivers and is so far problem free no lock-ups or crashes ... also says comp runs alot better
