ok let me just say that im new to these forums and i decided maybe someone here can give me some serious help because its been frustrating me. ive read and read about overclocking my processor and other subsystems components and am ready to adjust some settings in my BIOS...however...i cant freaking get in there and its been ticking me off. I have an e-machines with an
FIC AU31 motherboard (FIC not a popular manufacturer i noticed) with an nVIDIA nForce2 IGP chipset, its got an AMD Athlon XP, 2200MHz 3200+ and an AWARD BIOS type...I would like to increase my computers overall performance to get it to run to its max. Ive also already tried updating my BIOS and i did find the proper update and i put a bootdisk on a cd with the update and rebooted my computer, i entered the awdflash.exe command, i then entered the name of my new BIOS .bin and then it asked would u like to save ur current BIOS so i pressed "y" for yes and it says to type the file name, so i entered oldbios.bin which is what i named my current bios(i put both the new BIOS update and my old BIOS on the cd) and then it gives me this "source file not found"...i tried changing the name to several different things even the actual name of .bin which is i think TCB432C.BIN and i get nothing but the same error message, so thats another problem im having....anyway back to trying to get into my BIOS when the comp starts up, usually u push del, F10, F1, F2, Esc, Ctl+Esc, Ctl+del, and ive tried all of these and it doesn't take me to my BIOS.....im open to any suggestions from anybody thanks

You should be able to enter BIOS via DEL key, same as before.
If you cant boot or enter Bios you probably Hosed your BIOS chip.

You might try to reset the CMOS/BIOS (I'd suggest a long reset, 24hr, unplug the pc, remove the CMOS battery, press the power button to drain your cap's, wait 24 hr then plug/reconnect everything & try to boot)

Usually OCing off the shelf PC's such as Emachine can be difficult due to locked BIOS features

You might try to update bios vis floppy disk, only load one version of BIOS on the Floppy

Maybe this thread will help you.

In summary, looks like F9 to enter bios. Not sure if you have tried that key.

In respect of o/cing your board, that thread provides 'bad' news as the bios is aimed at the OEM market, overclocking features have been left out of the bios. Perhaps there is a later or modded bios that you can find which includes requirements for o/cing.

    Good Luck

I also have an eMachine, with a locked BIOS....the easiest way I can tell you to overclock your system...is to use a program that will do it for you.

I personally use Clockgen (think thats the name) and it should be found here somewhere on Majorgeeks. I managed to OC my sempron 3100+ from 1800mhz to 2175mhz...fully stable. and THATS with using really cheap RAM...once I get my new RAM in I should be able to push it some more.

alright thanks a lot guys, im going to go ahead and try all of u all suggestions and im not able to use a floppy for updating my BIOS since my PC doesn't have a floppy drive....which is why i used a cd and i was also reading about being able to use a flash drive and doing it that way as well, but for now idk im just going to try taking the CMOS/BIOS thing out and see what that does
