I need info about the following actions and how to run them from the Vista command line:
    Restart PC
    Shut down PC
    Start system restore
Search for a specific file (including searching in hidden folders and system folders)

I think that's it for now.... I'm sure I'll think of some others in the near future.

    THANKS!

Start system restore - just type "rstrui.exe" without the quotes.

Not what you asked for but I stumbled across this and it might help in the future.
Bcdedit—The days of editing the simple boot.ini file are gone. Vista’s new boot process saves its system boot configuration in the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store. Like all bad ideas, the BCD store replaces a simple concept with a complex albeit more secure one. Bcdedit is your primary tool for editing the BCD store.

SHUTDOWN is the command to shutdown

At the command prompt type shutdown /?
I think restart might be shutdown -r but I don't know if quotes are needed or not.
