need to adjust system settings

i have a dillema. i want to be able to play a game i just purchased. however, it says it needs 512mb ram to play it. i have 256. it wont let me install it until i meet this specification. however, i have played games with more demanding benchmarks (this one needs 1.4 ghz processor, mine is 2.66) and handles it fine. so, im looking for a program that makes the computer think it has 512 mb ram, while in reality, it has 256. i cannot afford to purchase ram, i need to use my money on other things.

 

You won't find a program for this. Mainly because there is no single way of checking what a system has. Typically the way people check is with their own personally written apps, so it would be basicly impossible for someone to make a program which shows you having more ram then you actually have. Unless they wrote an app to trick windows itself, but if someone did that it would most likely crash windows as it would try to use RAM that doesn't exsist.

You should look at alternatives if you seriosuly want to try the game with only 256 megs. Sometimes you can go in and launch the installer manually and skip over the checks. If that isn't possible another way would be to install on a computer with 512 megs of ram and then just copy the installed files over.

Otherwise you're basicly out of luck unless you can figure out how to trick the installer yourself. On the bright side RAM is really cheap right now. So if you do break down and buy more RAM at least it won't hurt your wallet too much.
