Need to capture system crash stack/frame dump

When I try to look at my AV firewall logs during connection to the Internet (via mouse click), I get a total system crash.

The OS is Win98SE which at most has Dr. Watson. The gotcha is that it appears that Dr. Watson (on Win9SE) is only capable of capturing a minidump of an application program fault where the system stays up and Dr. Watson can capture the data.

During a total system crash, at the mouse click, the system dives into a complete Power Off Mode state, and then trys to reboot. Upon coming up and trying to collect any data from the event with Dr. Watson, it appears that the snapshot I take before the event, and the snapshot after coming back up are the same - i.e. no stack/frame dump information of the event.

Is there a system level debugger for Win98SE that can retain control of the situation as described, and collect the data to point out the culprit in this case?

    Tia,
