Need to Convert WP8 to MS Word 2003

I did a search of the forums - went through all 17 pages of results and came up with a blank. The only thing close in Jan 2005 (copied below) ...

There was a converter but it says it only works for versions up to WP 6.x
Another suggestion says to save the WP doc in an earlier format - my WP8 does not have that option.

I'm trying to apply for a job (been laid off 6 mos) and Monster will not accept .wpd documents.

If anyone can help me it would help so much. Thanks. :confused
I'm using XP home and need to convert Corel Suite Wordperfect 8 to MS Office Word 2003.

By the way with no work I can not afford to upgrade anything at this point.

 

Why only Word 2003? All versions of Word from Word 97 through Word 2003 save files in the .doc format. Doesn't Wordperfect have some version of Word as an option for saving to different formats?

Yes, Word 2003 will convert files IF the converter is installed - I got this computer second-hand and the converter was not installed and I can't find one for 2003. My original disk of XP Home is not the same as what is now there (it has been updated many times) so the program can't locate the correct converter.

I've heard about Zamzar - but I need something that saves all format exactly right as appearance of Resumes and the like is vitally important and I'm told that Zamzar just does an approximate job. All my files - about 60 3 1/2 floppys are in Wordperfect so I would be converting constantly. I was hoping for a better solution.
