Need to retrieve erased file if still possible !!!

Just unzipped old oudated bmp.files over some updated ones (several hours work) and ... of course had no backup of my work !
I heard about some programs able to retrieve "erased" files !!! Does that mean i may be able to get back some of my work. Need some advice .

Im not sure if you can still recover the files but if you wanna give it a chance heres a good program

Note: It is better if you run the program from a floppy or cd as this states:

"It is not necessary to install the utility on your system's hard drive, as it fits on a boot floppy disk, removing the possibility of overwriting data which you want to recover."

thanks but not really comfortable with the dos console ! (actually haven t been able to use it properly i guess) Isn t there one in the MG provides you could point me out easier to use
