ok, so I'm not the greatest tech but I did have 2 monitors working on my system for a good while. Now it seems that the onboard VGA connection has flaked out. I installed a video card that I had on hand (Asus ENGT430/D1/GD3) which has DVI-HDMI-VGA ports. Install went fine but I am unable to run 2 monitors from it.
Can someone tell me if I am not setting something up right or advise which graphics card will actual run 2 monitors at once?

This should be a piece of cake. Unfortunately, when I looked for the manual for your card, Asus says 0 documents found. :(

First, are you sure both monitors still work? Have you tried different cables? Cables don't normally suddenly go bad, unless abused by rough handling of the connectors, bent pins, or critters (including puppy dogs) chewing on them.

Note the typical process when you install a graphics card is the integrated graphics is automatically disabled. This is for two reasons; (1) usually the card is a more powerful graphics solution and (2) to free up system resources - specifically, the large chunk of system RAM stolen... err... "shared" with the integrated solution. This means for your typical dual monitor setup, you need to be connecting both monitors to the card, not one monitor to the card and the other to the integrated.

That's what I thought... and, yes, I too looked for the manual online and found zilch.
Yes, I know that both monitors still work. I tried a different VGA cord as well and same symptom... second screen will come on then fade out unless I turn the monitor off, then on and same thing - fade to black which led me to believe I had some sort of onboard VGA failure.
So, I plunked in the card and have both monitors hook up to it. Upon installing said card, the integrated graphics I/O have been shut off, so I do not have one on each.

Hmmm, that sounds like the second monitor is going to sleep. I think I would try another card, if you have one.

Otherwise, you might try entering the BIOS Setup Menu and enable integrated again, then use the port on the card that works and the integrated port and see what happens. This is not ideal because as noted above, integrated will steal some of your system RAM for graphics processing.
