    Hello,

I'm new here and need some direction. I need to undo the partition on my hard drive. Could someone please let me know which room in the forum I should go to.

    Thanks, Reniare

    Welcome Reniare. :)

This forum will do just fine to start with. :)

In order to remove a partition you can use either use FDISK if you intend to start again from scratch. This will lose any data that you currently have on the disk. Or you can use programs such as this

    You could go to your

Start > All programs > Admin tools > Computer management

    And delete the partition.

If you plan to reload all your software, then you can do it from your windows XP disk (if that's what you have)

At the setup screen, you can Create, Delete as many of the partitions you want.

I do not know of any program that will allow you to do it without killing the data on the disk, sorry.

just to delete partition it's enough to use windows partitioning utility. but after deleting the partition, you will need to add this unaalocated space to an another partition, for such opertation you need to use 3d party party partitioning progs, because windows doesn't allow to repartition drive without reformating it. i'd advice to take a look at disk director, i've been using it for 3years and it works like a charm.

Plaphon is right. I forgot that because your OS in on the first partition windows wont allow you to re-partition it with out formatting.

Unfortunatly Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 trial version has the following limitations:

    * Only partitions of the minimum size (1 cylinder ~ 7,8 MBytes)

I think you would have to buy a program to do what you want to do.

The easy and free way is like CombatDoc said.

yeah disk director isn't a free software, but IMO it costs its money, coz in addition you get several useful utilities, os selector - a boot manager, recovery expert - can recover lost or accidentally deleted partition, once it helped me very much, when i deleted my storage partition from disk management utility.

But if you don't have free money to spend on such software, you can get a free one, for example partition logic, but it's not as good as disk director, it has some limitations, sometime ago it couldn't resize ntfs partitions, but now there is written that it can. It's up to you what to choose.
