need to uninstall vista

I recently installed vista on my hp desktop without deleting xp. My computer is frozen. I cannot access my desktop. I can boot my computer into recovery mode...all I get is edit boot options and when i submit the command already posted it automatically boots vista and I cannot access my desktop. Just a floating warning telling me my video resolution is too low.


HELP. I just need to get into my desktop to retrieve my photos and videos then throw this f***ing computer through my wall and go buy a mac!!!!

 

Could you be more descriptive as to the problem? When it says the video resolution is too low, is it the little white balloon windows displays or does the monitor go black and then tell you the resolution is too low. If you think it may be a video problem, you can try pressing F8 when the computer starts and then select enter VGA mode. This will start your computer with screen settings that should be compatible with anything.

Next question is, did you install Vista on a different partition that Windows XP?
Also, if you only need to get to your desktop to get your photos and videos, did you try hooking your hard drive up to a different computer as a second HDD to access the files?

 

I just booted into safe mode and enabled the recommended video resolution. Vista is completing the installation. THANK YOU for your help...I am not very computer saavy and your help is greatly appreciated.

Vista has completed the install, now I cannot access anything...pictures, etc

Brief history...
My computer became infected and I purchased an antispyware program. The program could not be installed because it could not find my os which was xp. I looked everywhere for my software to re-install and could not find it. My husband just bought a dell laptop with vista and so I used his software on our desktop. That is when the resolution problem occured.

With vista now up and running, how do I gain access to all my folders and programs???

 

Using a laptop's windows re-install CD on another computer is probably what created your problem.

As for getting your pictures and such, I would hook up the hard drive to a different computer and boot off of that computer's operating system. You should be able to access the files on the hard drive.
