Need to upgrade a machine...

So I got a free computer. I put a copy of Win7 on the HD but I want it to be able to play contemporary games... which means a new MB, VC, CPU... the whole shebang, but I gotta do what i gotta do, after all, Skyrim does belong to the Nords.

Anyhow, can I just pop the existing HD into the new MB? I've been reading some stuff on the interwebs that says I'll get stuck calling Microsoft to explain that I have a new new motherboard. Calling a 1-800 # to explain myself sounds like a crappy way to spend four hours.

Any suggestions or ideas?

 

That would be after you deal with the BSODs from the old drivers incompatibility with your new MB. You'll be best off with a clean install.

 

I figured as much. I got it for free from MS Dreamscape so I figure they might fight me a bit for a second copy. We shall see. Thanks for the quick reply.
