A 21 year old boy had been missing from our area for over a week.He graduated with my handicapped daughter. http://www.sctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070509/NEWS01/105090014/1009

If you read the article, another man was picked up driving his truck, trying to impersonate him.
    The newest article today http://www.sctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070509/NEWS01/105090052/1009

I am so angry right now. This young man's life was cut short, because this other person wanted $50,000 and a new identity.

This, I guess, is another example of what our world is coming to.
I can't imagine the parents of the deceased boy, finding out he was killed because this other"person" if you can call him that, wanted some money and a new identity, cause his life was a mess.

Also, I wonder about the parents of the boy who did the killing. I feel sorrow for them.

That's a terrible thing. There is more and more of that kind of horrific crime happening every day. It makes me wonder, why? Bad parenting? Bad brain? Laziness? Drugs? What is causing our society to self-destruct?

On these articles, there is a story chat you can also read. It is what people write in about the stories.
I wish I had the answer to your questions, as I am asking myself the same thing.

If your into criminology, most in that field claim that there isn't more senseless crime, it's just that we now hear about it. Take this Media for example if gal1998 didn't have the net, none of us would have a clue about this senseless crime. Yet she does so folks in the UK, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Belgium, Holland, and I think we still have one in Germany will all hear about it.

How to reduce senseless crime further without even further reducing our Civil Liberties, is a hard thing to do.

My condolences go out to you and your daughter Gal1998, when a crime strikes that close to home, it takes awhile to get back to normal again.

There are inexhaustible series of studies on profiles and cases continually ongoing towards "nipping" such criminal traits in the bud.

BCGRAY, your questions are heavily loaded and inanswerable in such a short space. Sometimes it can be a physically "hardwired" or mental condition, while it may also have many contributing, background and environmental factors that surround the "whys" of an offender.

Unfortunately, the victims' names change but the crimes are the same throughout the world.

Victims' friends and relatives invariably suffer with such crimes and my sincere condolences to Gal1998 and family. It is heaviest when it strikes so close to home.

My condolences for the sad loss in your community, Gal.:( A tragic waste of a good ad decent life.

Like said, I think these kind of incidents are much more public nowadays.

As hard as it is to understand, I suppose a very small percentage of the population are totally immoral, and cannot relate to any ethics, or needs outside of their own immediate perceived gratifications. A small in number, but enough t to make the world a dangerous place. And being in a quiet country locale doesn't make it any safer, either. A very sad and stupid waste, i.m.o.

How horrible for his family, he sounds from the article like he was an OK kid in a world where not many are. The sad truth is that with birth rates so high and money so tight in todays world not alot of children get the upbringing that teaches them right from wrong because their parents are trying so hard to feed and cloth them, and unfortunately many many of those children have some manner of imbalance to boot. The world is full of alot of sick tragedies from too many people given too many choices and not enough self restraint.

Frankly I wish for a plague specificaly designed for people who have ever raped, murdered or harmed a child. Frankly the world doesnt need them and no sense of justice will ever truly punish them the way they punished their victims and families.

But I'm kind of a bitch.

There are a lot of sad people in todays' society. :(
I often wonder about the effect that television has on sicko's - do they see a
film and think that they can act out this fantasy?
How is your daughter coping; as she graduated with the victim?
    Take care
    :)

My daughter is ok. She is mentally only between 4 and 7 years,so she has no idea what has happened. I showed her the picture. She does know who Lewis is, which tells me he had been nice to her.
This morning, I read the criminal complaint against the other person. It just sickens me.

What you say here got me to thinking about how right you are. These things happen, and we never used to hear about it, because there was no way, too. Now, we hear from all over the world. I guess it doesn't make it any easier, but does bring thingsi nto a little better perspective.
    Thank you
