need usb drivers for win98 based hp computer

hp online help was horrible.
would like to get the proper usb drivers for this computer, for its usb ports.

Sorrym but you're not giving enough information. You'd need to know the motherboard model to actually come up with the correct drivers. If you don't know it should be with the documentation that came with your computer. Or you could look it up online if you knew the exact name that HP called the computer.

Alternativly you can pop opened the case and just look the the model number on the motherboard itself as it should be printed in a rather large white text.

 

Most pieces of USB equipment come with their own drivers for W98SE, or point you towards a relevant website. What piece of USB equipment are you trying to install. Is your OS, W98 or W98SE? Bazza

The only documentation that she has with her comp is the windows98 booklet with the key, that's it. really got me worked up, because she (neighbour), expects me to do this overnight and it's really not easy.
Went online with HP help, they gave me some executable, tried it, and nada.
It's a compaq pressario 7469, on (as i said) Win98.
GrRrrR...pre-built computers, just suck, what a rip off and they sell so many of them.
