Cobra,

I use Avira and haven't had any issues. I run that alongside PC Tools firewall.

Both free.

Tim,

When you say many here use MSE? Do you mean many of the Admins and Malware experts, or many of the users who come here seeking help?

A mixture of both, I use MSE on my netbook and Laptop and do install it on friends and colleagues PCs if they ask for assistance in malware security.

Although I do use Avast on my main desktop.

Thanks for the replay. I've seen mixed reviews on MS Security Essentials, and don't see it mentioned in the How to Protect yourself part of the Malware forum.

Personally I recommend Avira in combination with comodo firewall but I would have no problem recommending any of the other choices in this thread.

Anti-Virus listings at http://majorgeeks.com/downloads29.html for lots of MG rated AV programs, both Free and Shareware listed.

I personally use Comodo Internet Security 5.5 at
http://majorgeeks.com/Comodo_Internet_Security_d6234.html
It is a combined Firewall and AV program. It suits me, is FREE and well rated.
