Needs help

    Hello everyone. I am a somewhat computer illiterate 53 yr old man who somehow managed to lose the sound on his HP A465W computer. I've tried the troubleshooting and re-installing that was suggested by other forums, but still no sound. Device manager says it is there, propeties say it's working fine on one screen and then says it's not on another. I have no vollume control icon. I looked in the system 32 folder and all I see in the sound area are blue and white empty screens. Can someone help me? Please bear with my in competence as you try and help me..Thanks alot.
