Every time i play a game i feel like my mouse goes super slow at the wrong moments, mostly when i see an enemy on screen or something. (counter strike 1.6/G.O)

otherwise my mouse works just fine.. it sort of feels like i have a program running in the background that delays my mouses reaction time but i haven't seen any running while i play. i've disabled updates, turned virus protection off while in game everything you can think of.. nothing seems to get rid of my strange mouse negative acceleration

i've ran numerous virus/malware scans and they came up clean. done registry cleans done mouse fix everything.. nothing seems to help

    windows 7 professional x64
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU e8400 @ 3.00ghz
    4 GB of ram
    Geforce GTS 250
    Zowie EC2 mouse 1000hz 500 dpi

all drivers are updated so i don't think it's the drivers

Have you tried using another mouse, and did that make a difference?

I didn't see any obvious download links on Zowie's website, do they provide drivers or other software for their products?

yeah i've tried other mice before and i've gotten the same issue :/

and not that i'm aware of.

i'm pretty positive that it's a technical issue with my computer just can't find out where.

i find that explorer.exe runs at like 6 sometimes.. i don't know if that causes my little delays. it runs at 15k mem usage.. so it runs quite frequently when i play

actually it's running at about 35k mem usage right now after i've been playing.

So here's a trick question for you. Are you sure it's the mouse and not he game itself? Ditch the mouse and try to input keyboard commands next time it happens. Also, is it only CS, or other games as well? 4GB is low for a gaming system these days.

oh i'm quite positive it's not my mouse doing it.. something on my computer is making my gaming run slower when more enemies are around me.

but i get constant 100fps so it's not my fps lowering or anything

just feels like my game gets really choppy? maybe.. delayed slightly

it's a huge disadvantage for me

and yeah 4GB isn't exactly a lot nowadays but for CS 1.6 it's more than enough

just a bummer i can't knaw this out and find the source

Steer you forgot to mention when you used a ps/2 mouse you had no problems.

If you are positive about that, then it's either your RAM, or your video card, or, if L33t_SSF_Killa is right, your USB port drivers. Take your pick and tell us where you want to start troubleshoot, and we'll go from there...

well i didn't say the thing about the ps/2 working because i thought about it and i've had ps/2 mice before that i didn't agree with either. plus that was on my old 2001 rig.

this rig is only 3 years old so it should be pretty up to par with the USB ports and all.

but RAM and Videocard would be more agreeable.

something on my pc doesn't like games and i'm down to start troubleshooting wherever you please

Call me crazy, but this might be an audio issue. I've seen it before. Happens when a bunch of stuff is happening very close to you, ie lots of sounds trying to happen at once.

well i'm up to try anything

i just installed latest audio drivers and i still get the issue

but who knows.. maybe it's an in-game audio issue

Well you could try disabling your audio device.

disabled all audio and problem still persists

I agree with Mimsy, RAM or GPU.
    Hell even possibly PSU.

First thing I would do is remove one of the RAM sticks, try it, then replace it and remove the other, then switch them through to make sure the response is the same with any usable combination of RAM.
Then I would tried a different Video card if possible.
See even if you only get a steady 30FPS you would still get this problem if it's software related.
It just sounds like a lag that you often get as you face enemies when the GPU and RAM requirements suddenly increase as the action does.

    Screams of hardware to me.

    My point exactly.

Windows 7 comes with a built-in RAM tester. Open the start menu and type memory in the active search and it will point you towards it. Run the test, and if it shows errors, run it on your memory sticks one at a time, to find the bad one. Most good brands have lifetime warranties on memory.

i did the memory diagnostic test. came back clean. no memory problems.

so honestly it's either.. processor.. or videocard imo.

which is weird because i was playing earlier and it was "behaving" better than normal.. but would randomly start messing up again..

i have CPU-Z and CPUID to check temps/voltage and whatnot.

videocard gets to about 56C while playing.

processors get to about 46C while playing.

Both those temps are very good, better than average actually. What's the status of your drivers? And by that I mean all of them, not just the video driver. :)

Steer, is it just when you have a lot happening on screen, or does the action just have to be close to you?

  19. Steer

    Steer Private E-2

yes pretty much.. i'd say it happens MOST when lots of stuff is happening around me

but it also happens when it's not.. but not as often i guess?

like if a teammate is in front of me i can aim at his head so easily without slowdowns, but if an enemy is in front of me.. it slows down?

    very strange

and where do i find all my drivers?

You get your drivers from your hardware manufacturer. So for your video card you would got to nvidia.com, for your chipset you go to the motherboard company, and so on.

Also check your network settings and firewall, AV, and any other security software you have installed. They may be interfering with your connection to the game servers.
