Nero 6 questions

I recently bought nero 6 and it works great, but I have a few questions. First of all the default setting for copying a disk is to write to the hard drive first instead of direct disc to disc like what I used before. It says to copy on the fly you should have a read speed at least twice that of the record speed which is not possible with a 52x burner. Does this make for more coasters when done on a drive that is not up to speed? Second... it was working perfect but the last few copys have given me and a message that it failed, but when I put the disc in it plays and sounds fine. I printed out the error report but can't make heads or tails of it. Should this be ignored or is there something I am missing?

 

If the burner has "burn-proof" technology, it should slow down on the fly to keep from over-running the data supply, and still not burn a coaster.

To use the "1/2 source drive speed", simply choose to burn at 24x (or slower; many drives don't hit their advertised speeds at best, and definitely not at the inner portions of the disk).

If the reported error wasn't significant enough to stop playback or be audible, I wouldn't worry about it. Did you listen to or verify that the whole disk worked properly? If it was a song toward the end, you might simply have missed or skipped the error. If you're getting error reports consistently, try burning at slower speeds, and make sure antivirus software and anything else intensive is shut down before starting to burn. Both Nero and your burner cache data before burning; watch the bar graphs for those and make sure they're not dropping to zero, meaning you're not supplying data to the drive fast enough. Shutting down running apps & slower burn speeds should cure that.
