This started when I updated do Nero 7, every audio cd that is burned using Nero 7 skips on every song. It will play each song, but it will skip about 10 times throughout the song, like hitting a bump in a vehicle. It does it on both of my computers.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    No, I haven't, but I don't like 7. It's turned into bloatware compared to 6.

What does the Nero Info Tool report? (in Nero Toolkit)

I have uninstalled Nero 7 and went back to 6.0.1.6. Tired of fooling with it, NTI which I've used for years is having problems since update as well as Nero. I hate updates!!

Anyway, I will stick with Nero 6 for a while.

    That's a wise move, I would stick with 6.

Nero 7 and Roxio are competing and turning their products into bloatware.

Anyway, 6 does everything that 7 does, apart from crappy things like Nero Home etc and a new skin.

Yeah, ever since NTI's update its been acting weird to. I will not update anymore though.

Nero 6 is here to stay, now watch them force the update! LOL!

Have to totally agree Insomniac on Nero7, they have spoilt a good app, Nero6 is the way to go, plus this freebie app is also a good no frills aproach to burning CDBurnerXP 3.0.116 Beta

    InfoTool as I suggested earlier.

It's always the first thing to check when you have problems.

Not sure exactly what I'm looking for in here?

You could save a log and attach it, or to check it quickly, look at the config tab and make sure it has DMA on for all your hard drives and burners.

Second tab to check is Nero Aspi is installed correctly. Don't worry about system ASPI, it's not needed with XP.

(probably my last or second last post for this morning, so don't think I'm ignoring you if I don't immediately reply. I'm sure others will help anyway)

All of that looks good, the problem is every song on the burned cd will skip about 5-10 times throughout the song. It's very weird, im getting really mad because I cant burn a CD.

Nero messes them up by skipping, NTI shuts down and freezes, Acoustica shuts down. I have tested each MP3 and they are all ok so I dont know whats going on.

I read that this can be related to plugins.

Download and install THIS file, it is reported as fixing this problem.

I've never used so can't say with certainty.

  14. I say ditch nero and use musicmatch. Thats the way to go. Trust me on this one i have six which came with a burner we bought and one fine day that buffer underrun thingy just doesnt show up at all and i have it burning a cd and then all of a sudden i get a buffer underrun message and the burn fouls out which wastes a cd. Well i dunno if itworks now scince i reinstalled nero all together and have not burned yet (i dont burn very oftenly especially scince my creative zen neeon moved in :D ) But i burn with musicmatch jukebox and that works fine. And i couldnt agree more that nero is just a big peice of bloat now. I think that the next relase of nero should just be re-vamped so it doesnt have these problems. Rediculous i tell ya... .

I agree with Halo and Insomniac. I'm sticking with 6, read about to many problems with 7.

I would offer some help (if I knew) but I think Insomniac is correct with the plugin thing.

New tech guy, telling someone of BJ's calibre to scrap Nero and use MusicMatch is an insult.

Would you like it if you had a virus and he told you to scrap Windows and install Linux?

We are here to fix a specific issue, not offer crap.

I appreciate the help, I hate saying "It didnt work" or "its still doing it" because I know it gets agravating.

Im about to scream because nero does this and NTI just freezes and shuts down.

I have no clue why it's skipping like this, I installed the plugins, rebooted and then burned it again.

  19. Ok sorry bout that there guys. I apoligize if i insulted anyone and no i was not telling anyone to ditch anything... I was just stating my opinion on the issue. But as a solution to the prob, i would suggest maybe just uninstalling nero, then cleaning ANY leftover registry entries and files out of the system that were left from nero then install it again and see if it works....

BJ just double check that DMA is set for the CD devices in Dev manager > in IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > either primary or secondary, depends which one you have the drives hooked upto and Advanced ... check DMA is set in transfer mode.

when burning tracks BJ, is the buffer levels constantly moving up and down or at a steady level?

I hate when I have to do this, but I found out the problem. I think this should be a sticky because this is a hard to fix issue.

The problem is a bad DLL file, the file is mp3PRO.dll located in the directory "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins"

The problem is, the newer versions of Nero replace this file, for whatever reason its faulty. In order for Nero to work properly (no skipping) is to use the old DLL with the new versions. I have tested this and it works like a charm.

Since this DLL is too large to upload here, I have uploaded it to Rapidshare for anyone who has this problem.

    mp3PRO DLL Download

Copy this file into the directory "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins" and over-write the current one.

Again, thanks for all of post and everyone's time. :)

Glad it's fixed, although that's what was suggested as a download.

Don't know why it didn't work, but who cares, it's fixed and thanks for the heads up.

I checked this, I extracted the contents of tha package and the version of that particular DLL was one version newer than the one I uploaded so that's why it didnt work.

You was correct about it though :)

    bj,

I have this same exact problem with Nero 7, the skipping that is, and I'd like to try your solution except that the link you provided doesn't seem to work. It directs me to a page, but the files doesn't seem to be available for download.

    Thanks,

    -Steve

It has a timer on the free account, and download accelerators only work on the premium account.

You can do a Google if you like, there are dozens of other sites.

    evilevets,

Click the link below, when the page comes up, scroll down and click the button "FREE" and then it will procede to the next page. Scroll to the bottom and you will see "Download-Ticket reserved" and the timer. When this timer runs out you will enter the 3 digit character in the image into the box and then click the button Start Downloadto begin the download.

Once the download is complete, extract the contents and move the DLL file into the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins" to replace the current one.

    DOWNLOAD

The DLL file version is 2.0.4.7

I personally tested this and it worked on Nero Ultra 6.6.0.16 and it also worked on Nero 7 Ultra on my other PC.

I have been researching this since I found this out, I have just discovered this as well.

Nero 6 only needs an older version of mp3PRO.dll but Nero 7 needs mp3PRO.dll, mp3PRO_hlp.dll, & mp3PRO_dmo.dll to work properly (no skipping).

What's happening is when Nero 7 goes to "convert" the file for burning it corrupts the file where it skips. Replacing these files with older ones fixes this issue.

I have uploaded to ZIP files, one for Nero 6 and one for Nero 7. The mp3PRO.dll Pack is for Nero 7.

    Download mp3PRO.dll

    Download mp3PRO.dll Pack

BG - how old is your burner?? Friend of mine who plies me with photos etc went thru a bad patch and it turned out that his burner had clapped out. He bought a new LiteOn to replace his 3YO Pioneer and the problem went away. As to burner software I have no probs with Nero 6
    Cheers

It's not the burner, it was the bad DLL file in Nero.
