Nero backup file problems

    I had to reinstall Xp again and I used Nero 8 to backup some files and pictures toa dvd thnking that I wold just put them back on the new XP when I was ddone...so I thought. When I tried to copy them back I used nero again but it says "Files corrupt" or something thereof. But when I burned them to the DVD everything went fine. Is there anyway to "fix' this problem? Or another program to use? I REALLY don't want to lose the pictures!!! about 3 GB of them of my baby.
