I use Nero with their plugin to copy cassettes to CD (line in). The issue I face is every few minutes the mp3 created by Nero (and as result the CD I burn) has a skip on it that sounds like a scratched CD would (skips a couple words of the speaking on the CD). I think I cut it back a good deal by turning off the Power Management feature as I thought one of the skips was created when the Power Management cut the monitor off, but I am still finding some skips. Any suggestions appreciated.

Never tried using Nero directly- I recorded the cassette's using "Audacity" (freeware) and burnt the resulting files to CD, in either Wav or MP3 format.

I've never used nero's audio tools, but in general it's a good idea to disable anything that accesses the disk in the background, like your anti virus, etc, and turn off the screensaver, while doing recording of any length.
