Nero Burning ROM?

I've used many different versions of Nero from 6.0.0.x thru 7.5.x.x. None of them have Nero Burning ROM. But there is an .exe in the Nero folder called nero.exe with Burning ROM under it (as the description). When this is launched, Nero Express comes up. I'm always seeing references to the Burning ROM and it's 'drop-down' menus or 'click on File' at the top. I've never seen a drop down menu from the File button; there is no File button! I've seen screenshots in some how-to's on DVD burning and I'm never able to get the same screens to come up. Could it be that I'm using OEM Nero's that came bundled w/ a DVDRW drive? Do I need a 'full' retail version? Any help will be appreciated!

Here's a link that shows what I mean. In step 1, it says to launch Nero Burning ROM and not Smart Start. In steps 1 thru 4, there are some screenshots that I've never seen and I can't get Nero to produce these same screens. It's driving me nuts! Here's the link: http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/40/59/
BTW- It's a great, very informative link;)

All versions of Nero contain Nero Burning ROM...it's the actual engine required to do any CD/DVD burning at all. I never liked Nero Express...the Nero Startsmart which comes with later versions is much easier to use. Anyway, when you open Express, do you see a little arrow in the middle of the left-hand pane of the window? If so, click on it and it'll expand to show more options, like this:

Click on 'Switch to Nero Burning ROM' in the top left corner & you should see something like this:

You should then be able to get the screens very similar to what you see in your link.

I don't have the arrow! When I launch Nero Express, I get I window that says 'What do you want to burn?' with choices of data, music, video/pictures, copy entire disc, and disc image/import project. At the bottom are the blue '?' for help, a 'More' button for configurations, etc, a 'Nero' button that opens a link to nero.com, and the exit button. No arrow, no file button at the top, no edit button, etc. The help .pdf for Nero Burning ROM in Program Files\Ahead\Nero shows similar screenshots to what you have above and similar to the link I posted. I'm not PC illiterate! :banghead But this is making feel real LAME!!!!
    H E L P !!!!
I'll try to attach or post a screenshot of what I'm getting to clarify things.
    THANX!

Dave, I bought Nero years ago but have seen references to the fact that many DVD writers come with only Nero Express. I'm guessing that that is true and you only have Nero Express. If you can find the install CD see if it lists Nero or Nero Express. Not sure you can find info on line as I think writers include various software(pretty much whatever they can get a deal on) and therefore don't list the software on the box.

What happens when you click the nero button at the bottom of your screenshot?

The Nero button just opens a window w/ a link to nero.com and says something like 'see why Nero 6 is the ultimate burning solution' or some bull :crap and provides the link. The 'More' button opens a sub menu where I can erase disc, go to the label/cover designer, configure stuff in preferences like overburning, languages, ultrabuffer, etc.... I think you're right about only having Nero Express 'cuz I've done everything I can think of and still I can't get the screenshots above or in the link I posted at the top. All the versions of Nero I've used were OEM bundles that came w/ a burner and think that's what's going on here. It's just frustrating: trying follow a tutorial w/ screenshots that I can't re-create, so I have to find another route to accomplish the same tasks.... pain in the arse! ;)
    Thanx for your help everybody!

OK- here's a screen shot from a different PC than the shot I attached earlier. It pretty much says it all ;) Oh well, I guess it's time to shell out some ducats for the 'full' version of Nero, unless someone knows of some freeware that will do all of what Nero can....
