I have recently purchased an external HP DVD burner that came with the Nero software suite. Once installed I selected the video files that I wanted to burn to DVD. After THREE hours of transcoding it causes an error that it does not support this disc type (DVD +R) and then ejects the disc. Any advice what is wrong, shouldn’t this disc type be supported???

Is this the only burning software you have installed?

No, I have one for my camcorder but it generates a diff. error saying there is not enough work space, (plenty of room on HD if thats what its talking bout). Not sure whats going on.

In my experience Nero is just a pain in the ***. A lot of people love it, but I have found many freeware programs that I like better.

    DVD+R should definitely be supported.

One thing you could try is separating the encoding and writing processes. Since you have plenty of HD space have Nero write the recode files to HD first and then when that is complete try burning the files to disc. Full disclosure: I've never gotten Nero to recode my files without an error somewhere but also have never had problems with Nero burning proper DVD files to disc.
