On copying a DVD, the error I received was the blank DVD did not have enough disc space. Required was 4.4 MB, but the source DVD was 7.929 MB. My question is this:
Is it really likely the source DVD had that much on it? Or, is the error wrong? I thought that DVD's carried 4.7 MB max? If not, is there a commerically avaiable blank that will accomodate my copy? What I am making a backup copy of is a Kenneth Copeland Church service.

It's gb as in gigabytes, and yes the source dvd's can have much
because they are dual layer. The ones you buy to burn have 4.7 gb
max on them, of which only 4.4 or so is useable.
You can buy dual layered discs but they are big$

Get yourself a copy of dvd shrink from here.

I pay anywhere from 4.00 to 5.50 (depending on store(mine is office depot)) for them .They are available in larger packs (more is cheaper--most of the time ) check your local stores as not all carry them

Well I can get a 50 pack of single layered disks where I live
for around 20 bucks. Just one dual layer is almost 5 bucks.
And if you burn a coaster, you're out 5 bucks.
Do yourself a favor and use dvd shrink.
A good way in general is to use dvd decrypter first, then
dvd shrink. As long as you have Nero on your computer,
that's what I would do, since dvd shrink works hand in hand
    with Nero.
I don't know if this site has dvd decrypter, but it wouldn't be
    hard to find.

Edited dual layer cost because of the post below mine, lol.

also, on dual layer discs, dvd players cannot read the second layer, so it would be utterly pointless to burn on a dual-layer if you want to watch them on something differnt than your cpu. dvd shrink is really good for gettting a loarge video file onto a regular dvd, so check it out.

One other thing. Don't be intimidated by those two programs.
They are very simple to use.

This is entirely wrong. All DVD Video discs such as the ones movies are released upon are dual layer discs. Yes, they are still a little pricey, so DVD Shrink and single layer discs are a bit more economical yet. Earlthemailman, I have burned several movies onto dual layered discs and have yet to run into a problem playing them on stand-alone units capable of reading recordable discs.

I just want to add, If you want to use/Burn image to a Dual Layer disk you will ofcourse need to have a Dual Layer DVD Burner.
