   trying to burn a dvd which i have done several times before but am now getting "Power calibration error" any ideas the cause please Doug

   Can be a few things Doug .... if it burned at full speed before then chances are its the media you are using... even if its the same brand it may have been made in a different factory.
   
   whats the brand?
   
   Try burning at next lowest speed.

   Thats very possibly a laser problem, how old is the drive, can you still read DVD/CD discs? Can you still burn CD-Rs?
   
   Have you recently installed any new burning software,hardware?
   
   Any recent chipset driver updates?
