I am trying to convert my cassettes to digital so I can burn them to CD. I have no problem converting them. My problem is with the sound quality. How can I adjust the tone? The recordings are coming out a bit distorted with a screaching sound to the voices. When I play the tape I from the recorder they sound fine. It occurs when I make the transition from tape to CD. Almost like it is distorted from to much volume. I cannot find any adjustments for the sound such as treble and base to try and adjust the sound for this distortion. I would appreciate any suggestions. Would the volume control correct this problem? Thank you in advance.

It is not the hissing noise that is coming thru it is distorted as if someone were to close to the microphone. Is there an adjustment for that?????

    Thank you,

It might be clipping from too strong of a signal, try going into control panels' audio section and reduce your input volume, otherwise try MA's suggestion. Or reduce the output volume of your recorder.
