Nero reading 700mb CD-R's as 62mb

    I am having an issue with my CD Burner. I cannot burn CD's, everytime I try it tells me that there is not enough room on the CD. I am using Memorex blank 80 minute / 700 MB CD-R 48X multi speed. I can't seem to fix this. I remember vaguely something about disk strategy but cannot find it on the new Nero software. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks.

    TOUGH to diagnose, so we will do the basics first.

    Have you inserted other CD's or tried other burning software to verify if the problem is the software or the CD's?

    Checked for a BIOS (firmware) upgrade for your CDR?

    One thing you may or may want to check is if your running mutisession disks. Mine (nero) seemed to be preset to mutisession and caused me much greef.

    Has it ever burned a disk proper or is this a new install of either the hardware or software or both?

    What os xp? 98?

    I'm running Nero on Windows 2000. I haven't tried any other software as of yet. I do know that it worked flawlessly before in this same configuration, but I've gotten the errors with the same drive in two different boxes. I feel it may be firmware, but it's a SAF "Smart and Friendly" and I can't find firmware updates for it anywhere. Any suggestions will help. Thanks for those already given!!

    Are your motherboard drivers current? You say it worked before in this configuration which leads me to believe that this configuration is not exactly the same, something has changed. Check motherboard drivers and then try another, free burner in our backup section.
