nero start smart problems

wanted to burn some songs to a disc, so i got my blank in and start up nero.
it scans the songs and when it gets to the end, says cannot be completed, drive is in use

never had this problem b4.

also, normally when i put in a cd-r or a music cd, a little box pops up askin what i would like to do.
play with wmp
burn cd with nero
etc etc...

this does appear anymore

i'll reboot after i post to make sure.
only have same brand of cd-r's. never had any probs from em though
i assume its fairly new.

dont see it on task manager.
i've rebooted, but it's still doin the same thing.

also, i dunno y i dont get the pop up window when i insert a disk, askin me what i wanna do.

 

tried other disks, but nada.
if i play a game, gotta go through shortcut, instead of it startin up when i pop it in the drive.
i think i got a cleaner around here somewhere.
oh, and i dont see a tab saying recorder

just ran a cleaning disk through it.
its still not pickin anything up, although the disk thing said it was clean

 

well, as for how many hours. im not sure.
had comp 4... lets see, around 2 or 3 yrs.
and i'd say i've burnt over 100 cd's.
could'nt find installer 4 it, but i went ahead and unistalled it.
still not gettin the pop up window though, was about to do a lil gaming and i gotta use shortcut
lol

if youve got Nero use the Info tool to check out your drive, this has the capacity to unlock locked drives

 

ummm yes, only a few days ago.
i think i may have changed something i wasnt supposed to.
i was doin the 12 step config from blkviper, but i dnt think that woulda done it
and i used to use music match jukebox and roxi(thats what i had w/ comp)
but after i got nero, i dropped them

 

see if windows is using CD recording . this can conflict , it has done it to me..

Go to My computer
Right click on the Cd Drive
select Properties.
Recording Tab.
And if Enable CD recording box is checked . Uncheck it ...

Just a thought ...

 

i already un in stalled, b4 general's suggestion.
and i want my drive to record, so im not uncheckin

 

Hi Rice go here and scroll down a couple of lines and you can download the Nero Info Tool on its own

Or you could uninstall your drive through device manager and shut down your machine, then unplug the cables from the drive and restart windows
Next shut down again and re-attach your drive, boot back up and let windows redetect and install the drive

the nero demo works, but i have'nt got to do the other yet.

ok, after goin 15 pages back, i found my topic again.
well, i finally got my canned air, cleaned the inside up, and did
what Genral Lee said to do. which worked out perfect
now when i put in a game or cd, it actually reads it and starts up

 

hmmm, now it is back to doin what it was b4
i'm glad this was only 4 pages back,lol.
