nero wont burn...i dont know what else to say. i have windows xp, all worked fine. is it possible that when my son burned on his mp3 he has changed some setting somewhere? first we get a little notice about compatability, then when we press continue the burn option doesnt come up. i know you will need more info, but you will have to tell me what. much aloha from a very confused laurie

my nephew, who is now on bonzai beach, 'did something' to enable my son to burn onto his new mp3 player. i noticed when i posted that the nero 'window' says mp3. it used to say audio file. i don't know how to change it back.......but I'm hoping one of you utterly brilliant (notice the ass kissing) people will direct me. for those who don't know me, please give all instructions in 'baby steps'. much aloha

OK, I understand. What I meant by burn in windows xp is this. If you
have a blank cd you can spare, do this:

Click on start > my computer > click on your cd burner and that will
open up a blank page. Now drag and drop whichever files mp3's
etc that you wanted to burn into that page.
When you have them all in there, click on
file (up at the left top) > write these files to cd.
Windows will write the files to cd. If that works for you, then
you know your burner is ok, and the problem is with Nero.
Try that and post back here.

Sorry I didn't read this post better. I think you just need to know how to
change your settings. Which Nero version do you have. I have
6.6 and if yours is similar, I might be able to help.

no, it doesnt work on windows following your intructions. strange thing is that it is burning something......the cd's wont play in any of the cd players, but will play on our dvd player. the cd we did on windows wont play on the dvd either, just comes up with 'error'

correction... the music that works on the dvd player was burnt on windows, but not the way you said. on the kazza shared folder we have a music folder. if you click on a song in there, there is an option to 'copy to audio cd'. before when we have burnt cds on that we have always been able to play them on any cd player, ( i hope all this is making sense)

Looked at your screenshots and the version you have is old ( Pre SP2 ) and is not 100% compatible with SP2, so would really need updating.

In the second pic your trying to burn a DVD compilation and afaik not many home CD players play DVDs with MP3s on.

if I have this right in my aching brain.. and your music files are originally in Mp3 format then try this to get them to play in a normal home cd player,

    Open Nero Express
At the top drop down menu make sure you choose the drive letter of your writer and CD-R/RW ( eg. mine would be G: Liteon blah model number [CD-R/RW] )
Then choose from the what would you like to burn list Music > Audio CD and then click add and find the tracks to burn or just drag n drop them in the main window, once upto the capacity of the CD click finish and Burn.

the music files were downloaded in whatever format one uses to burn cds. somehow they have all been 'changed' to mp3s. we used to be able to burn cds and play them on any of our cd players. now we cant. i have followed your instructions for nero express, but now have to wait for hubby to come home to see what it was he wanted to download. that will be about 6hrs. so i will be back. thanks to you both. much aloha

Generally music downloaded is in MP3 format and then you have to convert them so thay can be played on a normal CD, thats where Nero helps as it does the conversion for you, so long as you choose Audio CD.

yes most likely if you have Auto update enabled, sadly it interfears with older versions of Nero... Nero 6.3.1.17 was the update to fix that issue, but any newer ones will be ok.

Let us know how you get on Laurie?

didnt get around to playing with it last night, but i got as far as the window that now does say 'burn' and now has a little 'audio cd' on it instead of the mp3, so things look hopeful. will report back tonight. :)
