Hi. I'm trying to modify my Nero 8 installation to include Nero Vision but Windows Installer keeps shutting down. I've tried to uninstall and do a clean install instead of modifying, but Windows Installer keeps shutting down as well and the uninstallation never completes. I've tried using the original installer file but Windows Installer still keeps shutting down. I've tried disabling nod32, but the problems persist.

I'm contemplating turning off data execution prevention for Windows Installer but I'm afraid it might result in catastrophic errors on my system if Nero messes things up. Help. :(

    Hi

Is your Windows verions fully upto date? also what Windows version are you running?

Does the Windows Installer give you any error messages or code, if so what it is?

Just wondering if the installer files for Nero are corrupted and still saved in the temp installer folder, so what I would be tempted to do is again uninstall Nero fully, run CCleaner to clean up temps and also run its Registry cleaner until nothing shows for missing.

Then run this Windows Installer Cleanup Tool and look for anything Nero and delete, then install Nero again.

Thanks for answering, Halo. The problem has been solved. I tried removing Nero using its installer file instead of through Programs and Features and was able to uninstall it successfully; I had originally only selected Modify, not Remove when I first used the installer file. Then I cleaned temp folders and the registry with CCleaner (which I regularly use) and did a clean install of Nero 8 and included Nero Vision this time. Installation went by without a hitch.

I'm guessing that the initial errors had something to do with the fact that I had already updated certain components of my old Nero installation in the past. What I understood from the errors was that Nero wasn't finding what it was expecting to find and was getting confused so Windows Data Execution Prevention kept shutting it down. Hehe. The previous errors contained codes that kept changing.

Thanks again. :) Oh, and how do I mark this thread as "resolved"? :-O
