.NET questions, but different...

OK, long story short I helped a person from Brazil reinstall XP on a laptop, she sat on another laptop as I guided her through the Black Viper site showing step by step. Let it be known she is very limited in computer knowledge. After she got it going I had her install crossloop first thing and I set about updating and installing programs. Well I got to the typical error where it can't install something cause it's missing dot net. No problem, until windows update wouldn't offer any even in the optional section. I went to Microsoft download and was going to DL them manually as I have before.... except when you change the language to Portuguese (Brazil) still no problem except all the links are down. Now the question, can I install English versions, I notice the file sizes are the same in all languages. Is the different languages just for the menus for setup or is there something hiding that won't let this work? Google has failed me on this.

 

What version of .NET Framework are you trying to install? I went to several .NET Framework downloads (2.0, 3.0, 3.5), and I can see the Portuguese (Brazil) download button ('Fazer Download') on each.

But the filenames are the same as on the English page, so I do assume that the installer is the same for all languages.

 

Yes I did the same, but when you click download, it goes to page not found screen. I never even looked at the filenames, humm that woulda given me a clue.
