net "tops" and related equips!

hey all, i had a few random....slightly un organised....ramblings, ideas about getting a net "top" , and just wondered if this is the place to say such things ?

Im a ...well i would say on a 1 ultra novice to 10 pc god , im probably about a 6? been messing around building bits for .. a long time but with some long gaps.... so i know your basics, and a few little OC things , but never much extravagant , no big networking, servers, or wrackmounts


i wont do a build ...not my currant 1 just basics , its amd! black 5000+ 2 gigs 1066 ram , 1 ide 1 sata 2 250g, lo end gfx card, decent air cooling..... and a 2 yr old acer aspire one n2 somethng ...just single core but slightly bigger 11. someting - 720 hd screen...

so i wanted to replace the desktop with a nettop....i will keep "betsy" haha but i want a net top i rarely encode much and i dont play gfx demanding games such as new FPS ect lol

but gfx on them i know virtually nothing , the acer revo 3700 i looked at had a newer grfx than this 1, and duel core 1.6 or 1.8 or so......

questions i got are things like .optical drive , i need 1 and really dont want usb lol, so i thought maybe esata? but then that would be limited to usb2 speeds? maybe some form of network adapter? could you run something like this from a sort of NAS setup!

also i liked it having HDMI and vga, i currantly use a 22inch lcdtv and an older 14inch vga lcd..... and i like that setup

im sorry about this ive been off the scene for ages just bumbling along on betsy, and looking after my 4 pet snakes, and other mundane things !!

also i apolagise if this post i deemed not fit to be in this section,

but its sort of random and specific, and not really an emergancy topic

or do any of you have any ideas on a small but reaonably gutsy something? or maybe build my own mini itx? i also have been quite boring in cases never modded 1 lol, i mostly buy standard ATX with no flashy bits but a reputable company

 

We use Dell Optiplex minis at work, they have an optical drive in the smaller form factor. I have an Acer Revo I got for XBMC no optical drive, but has ESATA, then I bought a FoxCon Nettop no optical, no ESATA but has wireless. I use it at work as my stealth machine.lol.
There are a few makers there to look at.
