.net Uninstall

    I have a vista box that will not upgrade the SP, I read where dot Net 1.1 and 3.5 were required. mine had both and 4.0 I uninstalled the 4.0 and wanted to uninstall 3.5 and reinstall it but 3.5 will not uninstall and attempts to reinstall 3.5 yield a setup error. I was able to uninstall and reinstall .NET 1.1 , I did not touch the 2.0 or 3.0 listed . I read in a post that 1.1 and 3.5 were required for SP 1 so I reasoned that a problem with them might be my problem with SP1. I am not sure if 3.5 is there or not. I do not get an uninstall option in the control panel should I try to reg-edit out the 3.5 ? I might make a big brick . any expertise will be appreciated.

    interesting information. I downloaded and ran the Netfx repair tool. it was not able to fix and as I look it appears to be 35 error in there. way more interesting than it should be I think.

    In your other thread you want to install SP2 for Windows Vista.
    Just to be sure... Do you have Windows Vista SP1 installed?

    With regards to Microsoft .NET Framework...
    You don't need .NET 1.1 or 3.5 to install SP1 or SP2 for Windows Vista.

    that's all that is needed and I suspect can not be uninstalled.

    You don't need .NET 4 on Vista.
    I have four Windows 7 computers in the house and .NET 4 has only been installed on one of them. (It came that way new). The computers run fine without .NET 4 installed because nothing I use complains about needing it.
    Windows 7 shipped with .NET 3.5 so I keep that patched.
