Netbeui And Tcp Bounded To 1 Nic

Most of the time I can't get my machines connected.
On my celeron I had to enable filesharing then disabled it in order to access my LAPTOP, I mean is this needed? can't I just install M$ client and it should connect?
On my pentium2 it has exactly all the settings as my celeron (epcept for the disabled filesharing which should not be there because is not intended to share) and still doesn't connect. So I have to do tricky things in order to make it function?

note: they all can connect at certain times so I don't think is the hardware.

I use a netgear router, all machines are wireless.
I have netbeui on all of them so it precceds tcp in using filesharing unless it is not doing that.

So what would be the basic requirements for filesharing using Netbeui and TCP bound to the same NIC. Also does WINS have something to do with it - under tcp properties is there a difference in settings that the server and the clients should have different?. someone with knowledge help me.

UPDATE: my pentium2 (that one that couldn't connect) can connect if I use \\LAPTOP so does this mean that the problem is that I can't browse the network as a whole but I can browse each PC?

 

You can Bind both NetBEUI and TCP/IP to the file Sharing on the same NIC.

When it mention server it means real server If you have a WinXP computer that you call server it doe not make WinXP a server OS.

In other words leave it at the default.

I know the solution:

it would be to go to advanced lan settings on the same LAN window and specify which protocol you want to use for filesharing and which for client MS.
