I just got this NetComm 3G10WVR from Rogers today. this is my first time ever with high speed internet. I have always just had dial up internet living in the country.
with this, I always have the same IP address? I think when I was with dial up I always had a server assigned IP and it was not always the same.
when I'm using this, can Rogers know specifically what websites I'm going on since it has a Rogers SIM card? can they basically track what I'm doing?
since I've always only had dial up I'm not sure what to expect now having the same IP address all the time.

sorry for replying to my own post, but i couldn't edit.
think I'm feeling a little paranoid, hoping someone knows.
my mother was telling me she heard of someone who was sending threatening emails and Rogers knew about it and canceled their account.
can Rogers know every website I'm on? and what I'm saying on every website? if I'm downloading porn, they will know?

Yes. Your ISP has to know what websites you go to, otherwise the information would never get to your computer.
It is very similar to postal mail. A letter has to be addressed to the proper address so the mail person knows where to deliver the mail.

but I mean are they monitoring what I'm doing? I was with Rogers while I had dial up, but I don't think they knew specifically what websites I was on as if they were watching what I was doing.

if I want to watch videos on youtube, can there be someone watching me the same time I'm watching the videos? if people are watching porn does that mean their ISP is watching it too?

since I had never used high speed before I had someone else come over to set it up. I was not in the room at the time but he said after it was all set up he went to some website but then shortly after that website would no longer work. could that have been Rogers specifically blocking that site? I don't know what site he was on and he said he does not remember. I guess I feel a little paranoid now that Rogers would be watching all the sites I'm on.

I also had a hard time trying to get on rogers.com site to work. the bottom would say "waiting for rogers.com..." and then eventually stop. one of the errors was "SSL peer was not expecting a handshake message it received". I don't even know what that means.

I feel so frustrated. I thought high speed would be great, but I don't like the idea of being watched.
