I've hooked up several Netgear wireless routers and never have had a problem. I really enjoy the product but recently I went to hook one up and the computer definitely knew it was on-line but the AOL would not come up. I know AOl does have several of their own blocks and maybe even firewall type garbage. So, is there something i have to do to make this work. I'm definitely NOT a AOL user. But some people still like AOL. Has anyone ever run into this sort of problem?

If you happen to have configured outbound firewall rules, AOL needs port 5190 in addition to common ones like 53, 80, and 443. By default, the Netgear will not have outbound firewall rulles configured.

I'm not sure if the AOL port 5190 port is UDP or TCP. I only mention this because I've had problems with Netgear devices not working properly with NAT and UDP in the past. Make sure your Netgear has current firmware. Sometimes the box sits on the shelf for quite some time before it is sold, and ends up with old firmware on a "new" product.
