netgear rp614

here are some of my problems and questions... first i have a netgear rp614 router, the 2 computers i use to connect to it are a windows xp home edition and a windows 98 , and i can connect to the internet fine but i can not access any emails, like yahoo, hotmail or excite, none what so ever, i also can not do any updates or upgrades for the computer like for windows. i was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this problem or tell me what to do or knows a little bit about netgear.... i would appreciate the help because ive tried a couple forums and it seems like no one can help me
