I bought Netgear Wireless-G Router (WGR614) so my printer could be wireless. I have an IMAC computer. My printer works fine hooked directly to my computer. My sons have tried to hook up the printer to netgear but the printer doesn't work. Do you know know to fix the problem. This net gear is supposed to work with a mac.

Well, you need a Print Server to set up your printer for wireless access. Your router is not designed to be a Print Server; it's just a networking device for computers. See http://www.netgear.com/Products/PrintServers.aspx?for=Home+Networking. Although I do not have a print server, my understanding is that your printer would be connected to the print server, which would be connected to your router. This way, all computers connected (wired or wireless) to your router will be able to print with that printer.

I clicked on to the link you gave me. My netgear WGR614v7 looks just like the server on the link you gave me. On the box it says it is a router, It sounds like you are saying I don't have the right tool.

Well, you do need your router but, as both I and chaimjm have said, you need a print server, too. Your printer will connect to it and it will be connected to your router.

    Hi 210mjv66,
A wireless router is for connecting to the internet ONLY. Therefore you cannot use it to locate a printer. If you want to hook it up, then use a cable.

I don't see the point of your post. Do you disagree with what I said? I said nothing about a wireless connection for the printer, i.e. directly between computer and printer. I said the print server would be connected to the router; that would be by cable. That's how the printer would be become accessible to all computers on the local network. Any computer communicating with the router by wireless connection would, in effect, have wireless access to the printer.

Thanks to all who responded. Now you will know how little I know. I gave you the number off my router box not realizing it was the router box and not the print server box. I do have NETGEAR print server. I have tried installing it. The CDwon't run. NETGEAR WGP5606 show up in my print box but it doesn't print-probably because I didn't run the installation CD which won't run. Did I tell you I had an IMAC. Thanks
