netowrking windows and xubuntu

ok i want 2 network windows xp and xubuntu Edgy. i want to hook them up directly to each other. the windows has 2 network cards and the xubuntu is pluged directly into it. i want to share the internet connection.
How do i set it up? i heard that to connect two pcs together u have to make a crossover cable. Do u have to make one in order for it to work? thats no big deal if u have to i was just wondering. i have experemented connecting 2 windows pc together but not linux.

Comments like this can make your stay here short lived.

First and foremost MGs is a Windows Tech Forum. The Linux forum was recently setup, because there is a core group of users here that also use Linux.

Achieving a direct connect between a Windows box and a Nix box is near to impossible. You can get nix to talk to Windows, but Windows won't talk to nix, let alone read any data that is stored on a non-native Windows partition, i.e. if it's not a FAT or NTFS partition Windows won't read it.

Its just like sharing a internet connection between windows and windows, no its not near impossible.

Also your sharing app (probably samba) will handle conversions in file formats spd, so that doesn't actually even matter, though not related to posters problem.
