netstat -an

    when i typed "netstat -an" in cmd prompt.. i got a list of IP addresses with things like "linked,established"...how to interpret the result???

    i am gettin sumthin like this....
    protocol local_address foreign_address state
    TCP 0.0.0.0:135 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
    TCP 127.0.0.1.1029 0.0.0.0:0 ESTABLISHED

    like this i get a number of enteries in the respective columns...
    here wat does this loacal and foreign address mean..???

    I hope im clear wid my question..........:)

    Local refers to your computer or the computers you are networked with. (For example: all the computers in your house behind a router)
    Foreign refers to computers out on the web or beyond your router.
