Network adapter missing

    Hi can anyone assist please , my Gigabyte GA-M61SM2-S2 motherboard has a problem just installed Vista after new hard drive install and it has a problem , my " NETWORK ADAPTER " is missing it is not in " Device Manager " together with I cannot get on line to update or do not know what this driver is can anyone please assist thanks. Ken:confused

    Downloads tab choose
    Choose your OS:

    Chipset/LAN NVIDIA MCP61/MCP68 Chipset Driver (include chipset\lan\sata raid driver) v15.56 17.78 MB 2010/06/09


    is the driver you need , IE ( Internet Explorer ) is my suggestion browser to have a successful driver installation !! :wave

    Hi thanks for that reply, I will try that out now let you know what I installed Windows 7 so hope the drivers work for this prog to , cheers.

    Just tried those drivers on windows 7 ! " The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware " So BACK TO the search , cheers

    Thanks again for your reply just messaged " SUPERUSER " with same questions , my progress so far is uninstalled " Vista " and tried XP , everything works except the Internet " the Network Adapter " is still not in Device manager so far I hae downloaded every "GIGABYTE " chip & lan driver I think , so still looking , hope this helps ,looked in the system and looks like the "system information " RAS Async Adapter " and "WAN Miniport (l2tp) and so on hope thie helps too . Ken

    Do you reboot your machine after every driver installation ?
    Do you update your machine ?
    RAS Async Adapter " and "WAN Miniport (l2tp) is showing with yellow question mark in Device Manager ? :wave

    Did not reboot after every driver just after installed all I also uninstalled all those yellow ones but they returned .ken

    Sorry but we dont have Windows 7 LAN driver for this board.

    You may logon to Realtek website to check the driver availability.

    According you your logs, you have a Gigabyte M61SME-S2. Not a M61SM2-S2. But what I do not understand is that the log also shows you running XP and not Windows 7. :confused

    Your motherboard uses the Nvidia 6100/405 driver which can be found here. Note this is for the 64bit version of Windows 7.

    Hi again sorry, to repeat the GIGABYTE response says they DO NOT have any drivers for this mobo for Win7 so unstalled and loaded XP ( BIT SICK ) and they told me to go to REALTEK instead , I useing 32bit thanks again .

    Your Realtek network adapter is called a PHYceiver (Realtek RTL8201 phy) and is part of the Nvidia drivers. It is actually part of the chipset and you cannot download a driver from Realtek. For XP I would install the following driver.

    Thanks will try that in morning I did try to get that realtek 8201,but impossible in truck at moment so try when get home 300miles yet thanks again .Ken

    Downloaded the NVIDIA force download tried flash drive to load it said looking for disk so burned disk inserted then it said no space on drive C Tried everything so in end useing KIll disk to wipe drive and start again ... Gutted and gone to bed

    HI Just to update everyone after long while and l ots of tries I bave in and fitted a " FAST ETHERNET PCI ADAPTER" and it works still baffled why the other sytem did not but time moves on and please let me take this time to thank all for thier help and advice .Ken:)
