    Hi there

I keep having a problem with my wifi and think it might be to do with my network adapter.

My laptop is a Levono Z50.

Every few days, the wifi will disconnnect and I cannot reconnect. I found a temporary solution which was to uninstall all the applications that sit underneath the Network Adapter section of Device Manager.

Then I restart my laptop, and type in the following in command prompt, run as administrator:

    netsh winsock reset
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /flush
    netsh int ip reset netshlog.txt

I then restart my laptop again and connect to the wifi. I have to input the passcode again, but it then works.

For a few days at least. Then the problem reoccurs.

    Can anyone help please?

    Thank you.
    MC

You did not make it clear but when the problem first occurs just rebooting the laptop does not fix the wifi, is that correct?

Rather than carrying out the procedure that you listed, did you try to uninstall the wifi driver and then reinstall perhaps with a newer / more stable driver.

Would also help if you listed the make and model of the wifi adater.

    Hi there

Yes, the problem can happen randomly any time after booting up. A reboot on its own doesn't fix the problem.

Not sure how I'd go about uninstalling and finding a new driver for the Wifi - are you able to advise further?

Also, the make and model of the network adapter is:

Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adaptor

    Hope you can help.

    Thanks

Go to the Device Manager and firstly check what driver version is currently installed.

I am not sure what the latest or indeed most stable version is but from this thread user Vesa V found v10.0.0.324 to be issue free.

This seems to be a reputable download site although I cannot vouch for it

The Atheros chipset which this card has can be a total pain.

In Device Manager, the driver tab will give you the option of Updating the driver. You can use the roll back feature if it makes things much worse, although it's hard to see how it could.

If that fails to resolve the problem, you may wish to consider using a Nano router in client bridge mode, which you could connect to the ethernet port of the laptop and do away with the onboard wifi card.

I use one of these on my laptop and it runs fine powered from the usb port (only uses o.2A). They also make a dual 2.4Ghz and 5GHz model which I also have. Used them for well over a year and they are very good.

    Good Luck
