The company secretary apparently thought she was an IP professional and decided to try and network the computers in our new building. I lost all my user information, emails, files, etc. My emails are the most important to me because they have quotes, orders etc in them. I want to know if there is a way to recover my data or not. My computer was originally networked on a central server in the companies main building. We were split off and put into a new building. She apparently tried to do some kind of workgroup network and in doing so created a new user and all other users were deleted. I don't know the ins and outs but I need help. Let me know what you need for info and I will get it. If needed I am available via phone. PM me for number.

    6ftUnder,

The good news is that it is likely that you have not lost your data. The not so good news is that you likely have a larger task than can be accomplished with advice from this website. There would be lots of IT type information that would be required and likely security permissions that you as a user do do have to affect the changes required.

Does your company have an IT staff? If so, they are the folks that are best suited to handle your issues.

    Where are you located?

    A couple of basic questions.

Are your machines on a domain?
What email service are you using? Internal? Hosted? Microsoft Exchange? Lotus Notes?

You may be best suited to contact an IT service provider and have a professional come in and square it away.

You are saying that your company that you work for, does not have a IT group that takes care of the satellite offices? Sounds like someone needs to be shown the door, since they do not understand the differences between a domain and a workgroup.

You should be connected VPN for your domain back to the company domain. But yes, professionals need to be brought in, because every system out there has different GPO's & AD setups.

Your right but the owner wants to separate the two companies and it's hard to show him the door LOL. I will try an IT Firm and see what can be done. Thanks for the help.
