    Heya everyone,

The above is the message that I get from two computers that I am trying to network together at home, each with Windows XP SP2. When I try to run Network Wizard on my host computer, my only options are to ignore the disconnected device or not run the wizard. I've utilized the cable to connect the remote computer to the internet, so I know the cable's working. I just don't know how to make Windows realize that there is a cable connecting the two systems.

Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated, and thank you all for your responses in advance.

If you're using an ethernet cable to connect two computers together without using a hub or switch, you need what's called a crossover cable, whose wiring arrangement is different than a regular cable.

Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to post more questions at a later date, hehe
