Can someone please help me? I have a new NIC card I put in my other machine. It blue screens everytime I turn it on. I have installed all drivers and it will not load 2, audio and Nvidia onboard nic. It will run fine and do everything I ask until I plug in my modem. Does anybody have any suggestions? Do I need to uninstall my new NIC and then try to upload drivers?

Try uninstalling the Network Card the Graphics Card and Audio Card drivers, rebooting, installing (while the cards aren't plugged in) the latest drivers ensuring they are for your system (XP, Vista(32, 64 bit)), uninstalling your onboard graphics driver, turn off, plug cards back in, reboot and make sure you use a differrent PCI slot than you were before for the LAN card.

If that doesn't work then well delve deeper.

    Hey Drizzles,

I uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled them. Nothing. I cannot reinstall into another PCI slot for my NIC I only have the one PCI slot open. Still lost as a fart in a whirl wind. But still trying to get something going. Thanks for the input and if you have anymore suggestions I am here waiting.

And you're absolutely sure the drivers are for your operating system and type (XP, VISTA(32, 64 bit))?

And the computer doesn't blue screen with the card out??

    Hey Drizzles,
No blue screen untill I plug modem to NIC. And I made sure to get the correct drivers from the NIC card manufacturer in case of upgrades. It reads the new NIC and has a yellow exclamation point on the onboard. Went to robot driver to down load my other computer drivers to a thumb drive. It took all drivers except on board NIC. I am seriously thinking of just parting it out and starting over. or using it as a homework system and use my wife's (on it now) for internet. Any ideas about the fault?

My last suggestion would be to check for driver conflicts.

Do a right click on my computer and select properties, and select Advanced System Settings, Environment Variables. Then under System Variables, click new. As the Variable Name enter DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES
And as the Variable Value, enter 1

Now click ok and exit out of that and right click on my computer and click manage. Select Device Manager, go to View, and click on Show Hidden Devices. Now when you select a Device Group you will find some greyed out devices and some non.

Tell me what now appears in the Unknown Devices group and the Network Adapters Group.

Ok, I uninstalled my new NIC and uninstalled all onboard drivers for NIC. I then went back and reloaded some drivers because the screen started to look distorted. Got that fixed, went and reloaded drivers for onboard NIC. Nothing, big nada. Got the yellow exclamation mark again. Is my mobo bad? I wouldn't think I would get anything to work with a bad Mobo? I am desperate to get this machine working. I want my own system to do my work on. Any help here would be great. I am lost and don't know where to go next.:confused

Do a right click on the driver in question and select Properties, do an ALT+Print Screen of the status report then post it here.
