My question is at the end but not sure how to ask without telling what I did to get to it.

    HP Pavilion dv3 notebook
    Windows Vista x64-bit OS

Notebook im working on would connect to my network but not make the connection to receive internet. I went to Manage network connections, right clicked wireless network connection and clicked properties... Then went to my IPv4 properties then noticed that it wasn't on "obtain an IP automatically" so I changed it and now it connects fine to my wifi and runs fine.

Now my question is, do I have to connect to the other 2 networks (my brothers work and home networks) and follow what I did above or is there something else I can do?

    Hi will2597.

Boot up your machine in the absence of any wifi networks and go to the same location, IPv4 properties, and make sure that same box is checked and you should be good to go for any wifi connection.
The box might have been unchecked if you had set a static IP for some reason earlier. If not, then I don't know why it was unchecked as that is the default setting. (Maybe the network gremlins did it.;))
