Hello everyone, I'm doing some research trying to find out: what other network models exist or have been in existence besides the OSI model and the TCP/IP protocol suite?
So far its been a confusing process because I've been mixing up articles on protocols themselves and the articles on the network models I'm looking for so far I've found:

    X.25
    Cisco's 3 Layered Model

    Hierarchical internetworking model

Can you guys please help me get in the right direction by identifying the network models other than OSI and TCP/IP that you know of? Your help would be very much appreciated

There is more info about networks and protocols on the internet than you can find time to read. Here's a start....
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_network_protocols
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_topology
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSI_model
    http://www.protocols.com/

The Cisco web site has virtually unlimited documentation about anything you can imagine related to networks. I bet other telecom manufacturers sites to too.

You can look at your network adapter and choose the "drivers" that should actually be called protocols. The protocols only exist in a network connection to what I have learned in university where two computing systems communicate with each other.;)

Except the OP made that post in Jan 2010 and hasn't been back here since.
The 2nd poster hasn't been back since 2011.

Also, networking is a far cry from what it was in 2010...

FYI Don't post in threads older than 3 months unless it's your thread.
