I have a problem connecting my newer Win 7 machine with my older Win XP machine. Both machines can connect to the Internet via my router without problem. On my Windows 7 machine the XP machine shows up in the network map. In the network in file explore in windows 7 I see only the Windows 7 machine but not the Windows XP machine. if I however type \\192.168.0.101 which is the address of my old PC it shows up without problems. Any help to this nature would be most appreciated.

Make sure that homegroup is turned off on the Windows 7 machine, also that file sharing connections on the Windows 7 machine is set for 40 or 56 bit connection. Another question is, do both machines have the same username & password, and allowing also that other machines can see each other on the network? Can you ping each machine from the other?

Also, there is some good info to help you at http://www.ezlan.net/
